SEARCH is a popular formula used to identify whether or not a specific word is contained within a cell, and if so, the formula will identify the location of the word. It is regularly used within nested formulas in a variety of different ways.

SEARCH

There are three (3) steps to the SEARCH function, each separated by a comma.

1. Find_Text: The word (or text) to find.

2. Within_Text: The cell you want to search in.

3. Start_Num: (OPTIONAL) The starting position in the cell to search.

In the red square you can see how it can be combined with an IF and ISNUMBER formula.
